We Want You!
We heavily rely on volunteers, whether individually or in groups, to staff the Juneteenth Parade and Festival. We have a variety of exciting opportunities on the day of the event for which we are recruiting. Please review the information below to find out how you can help. If you are interested in volunteering let us know by completing and submitting the online registration form and the Hold Harmless Agreement.

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Vendor Support
Vendor Support is an ideal position for anyone interested in working with the vendors who participate in the Festival that follows the Parade. Responsibilities include general site assistance; setup and breakdown; ensuring that vendors adhere to Festival requirements; responding to vendors’ questions and concerns; and troubleshooting issues that arise on the day of the event.

Parade Registration
Parade Registration provides various tasks associated with the proper registration and assignment of dignitaries and parade participants. Responsibilities include setting up the registration area; signing in participants; directing groups and individuals to their appropriate locations; and distributing sashes to dignitaries who are marching in the parade.

Division Leader
Division Leaders serve as the main point of contact for the groups and individuals assigned to their respective divisions. Upon a group’s arrival at the registration site, a Division Leader checks to ensure that all paperwork has been assembled as prescribed and assembles groups in accordance with the Parade Lineup. Division Leaders walk the parade route with their divisions keeping the groups moving.

Gap Monitor
Gap Monitors take up a stationary position along the Parade route and monitor the parade for gaps. They will be responsible for encouraging groups to either move to catch up, or to slow their pace to fill holes that are forming. The best bonus is having an unobstructed view of the parade.

Viewing Stand Monitor
Viewing Stand Monitors act as greeters or hosts at the City Hall viewing stand. . Their function is to ensure that all individuals accessing the viewing stand have a badge authorizing entry and that their names appear on the roster of special guests. They help make sure that all eating is confined to the rotunda and perform other tasks that keep the parade running smoothly.

Banner Carriers / Puppet Handlers
Banner Carriers /Puppet Handlers hold either a banner or giant puppet in the parade. These individuals must be capable of walking the entire parade route.
